Join Our Team as a Technical Surveillance Officer

We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Technical Surveillance Officer to join our team at the South West Regional Organised Crime Unit (SWROCU). As a key member of our Technical Surveillance Team, you will play a vital role in providing innovative and essential support to law enforcement agencies across the South West and beyond.

About the Role

As a Technical Surveillance Officer, you will be responsible for providing technical support to investigations involving local constabularies, the SWROCU, and surveillance teams around the South West and beyond. You will work closely with our team to capture intelligence and evidence to progress investigations and secure convictions.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide technical support to investigations involving video, audio, optics, alarm, telecommunications, location and positioning equipment, information communication technology, mobile telephony, IP or WIFI technology
  • Work autonomously in a challenging environment and make decisions balancing operational considerations against risk
  • Demonstrate detailed knowledge of computer systems used with specialist technical equipment and competent in the use of Microsoft Word, Outlook and Excel
  • Understand relevant legislation in connection with technical surveillance techniques (RIPA, Police Act, APP, ACPO Surveillance Manual of Standards and ECHR Act)
  • Hold a full current driving licence and be willing to travel across a large regional area
