Van Mechanic

Service Care Solutions is seeking a skilled Van Mechanic to join our team based in the Redditch and Bromsgrove area of the West Midlands.

This is an exciting opportunity to work with a local authority client, maintaining their fleet of tipper vehicles, including third-party and plant maintenance processes. The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring that these tasks are completed effectively, efficiently, and to the required standards.

• Inspect, repair, and service a wide range of vehicles, including tipper trucks, sweepers, and agricultural equipment.
• Carry out MOT tests and retests on class 4, 5, and 7 vehicles.
• Navigate around Bromsgrove and Redditch districts to attend breakdowns and undertake necessary repairs or facilitate vehicle recovery.
• Work flexibly to cover the needs of the service, including split shifts, working hours, and bank holidays.
• Train staff to carry out minor repairs and basic maintenance of plant and machinery.
• Liaise with contractors and drive vehicles up to 26 tonnes (LGV).

• Previous experience in Fleet Mechanics.
• Ability to work alone and as part of a team.
• Experience of performing MIG welding, gas welding, and electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic diagnosis, repair, and maintenance.
• Understanding of Ministry of Transport Vehicle Inspectorate Standards.
• City and Guilds qualification or equivalent, relative to vehicle, LGV, and HGV repair and maintenance.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Flexibility to work at multiple depots (Redditch and Bromsgrove).

We are looking for a self-starter who is able to plan and prioritize service workload, understand IT systems, and have a current full driving license and LGV Category C.
