Job Overview

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Immunology Scientific and Operational Lead to join our team at Barts Health NHS Trust. As a key member of our pathology department, you will be responsible for leading the development and delivery of our Immunology service, ensuring high-quality patient care and excellent operational performance.

Main Duties

The successful candidate will have extensive senior-level experience in operational management in pathology services, specifically Immunology. They will possess a thorough understanding of service management and transformation, with a proven track record of implementing and managing change. The ideal candidate will also have experience of workforce planning and redesign, business planning, and budget management.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and deliver the Immunology service strategy, ensuring alignment with the trust's overall objectives.
  • Lead the Immunology department, providing direction and guidance to staff to ensure high-quality patient care and excellent operational performance.
  • Manage the department's budget, ensuring effective resource allocation and cost management.
  • Develop and implement quality improvement initiatives, ensuring compliance with UKAS ISO15189 and other relevant standards.
  • Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to ensure effective service delivery and improvement.
Person Specification

The successful candidate will possess the following qualifications, skills, and experience:

  • MSc. Biomedical Science or IBMS Special Examination (Fellowship)
  • Registration with the Health Care Professions Council
  • Extensive senior-level experience in operational management in pathology services, specifically Immunology
  • Proven track record of implementing and managing change
  • Experience of workforce planning and redesign, business planning, and budget management
