About the Role

Churchill Retirement is seeking an experienced Senior Quantity Surveyor to join their Eastern commercial team, overseeing new retirement developments in the region.

The successful candidate will manage the entire financial cycle for up to three contracts at any one time, from preparing anticipated build costs to procuring, paying, and evaluating subcontractors.

As a Senior Quantity Surveyor, you will work closely with internal stakeholders, including Land, Design, and Technical teams, as well as external contractors, suppliers, and consultants, to agree trading terms and negotiate contracts.

Key responsibilities will include preparing construction budgets, monitoring costs, preparing schedules, estimates, making payments, and monitoring procurement of subcontractors and materials.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Measuring drawings, taking off quantities, preparing schedules, estimates, and other working documents.
  • Providing material costs for construction budgets.
  • Sourcing suitable suppliers and issuing tender enquiry documents.
  • Negotiating proposed order values and regional supply agreements, together with purchasing of materials.
  • Appointing and managing subcontractors.

About You

We are looking for a commercially astute negotiator with experience in taking projects through their full lifecycle, from tender to final account. You will hold a relevant HNC or HND qualification, professional body membership (RICS or MOICB), and be able to understand architect drawings, specification documents, and relevant terminology.

You will be highly numerate, able to fulfill expectations regarding budgets, forecasting, reporting, and preparation of accounts. Fluency in written and spoken English is essential, coupled with a high standard of IT skill, MS Office, and construction-related accounting software.
