Job Title: Principal Operations Engineer

Location: Barrow-in-Furness – Onsite

Job Summary:

We are seeking a highly skilled Principal Operations Engineer to join our team at BAE Systems. As a key member of our operations team, you will be responsible for designing, planning, and risk assessing lifting operations to ensure the safe execution of our projects.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Liaise with internal and external stakeholders to ensure effective communication and coordination of lifting operations
  • Design and plan lifting operations, including method statements and risk assessments, to ensure compliance with LOLER and PUWER regulations
  • Coach and mentor lifting personnel to ensure they have the necessary skills and knowledge to perform their roles safely and effectively
  • Peer review complex lift plans to ensure they meet the required standards
  • Ensure a safe system of work is in place for lifting operations, including the identification and mitigation of potential risks

Requirements:

To be successful in this role, you will need to have:

  • Demonstrable 5 years+ experience in planning lifting operations
  • CPCS A61 Blue card LOLER Appointed Person
  • Experience in rigging and fleeting of loads
  • Able to communicate effectively with all stakeholders, internal and external
  • IT skills, including proficiency in AutoCAD

Desirable Qualifications:

  • ECITB Appointed Person Moving Loads (TAP01)
  • Level 5 NVQ Diploma in Controlling Lifting Operations – Planning Lifts
  • Level 4 NVQ Diploma in Controlling Lifting Operations – Supervising Lifts
  • CPCS A62 Blue card Crane/Lift Supervisor
