About the Role

We are seeking a dedicated and passionate Special Education Support Assistant to join our team at an 'Outstanding' special needs school in Enfield. The school caters for students with complex needs, including a high number of students with ASC in early years and key stage 1 & 2.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide individualized support to students with SEND, enabling them to access the curriculum effectively.
  • Assist students with personal care needs when required, promoting their independence and dignity.
  • Utilize symbolic communication to support students with communication difficulties, fostering meaningful interactions.
  • Promote social interaction, independent learning, and self-esteem in all students, creating a positive and inclusive environment.
  • Collaborate with teachers, therapists, and other professionals to deliver individual education plans (IEPs) and monitor progress, ensuring students' unique needs are met.
  • Create a safe and nurturing space where every child can thrive emotionally and academically.
  • Foster positive behavior through a consistent and caring approach, aligning with the school's behavior policy.
  • Support students with physical and sensory needs, including assisting with the use of specialist equipment as necessary.
Requirements
  • Previous experience working in an SEN setting or with children with SEND is essential.
  • A genuine passion for supporting young people with special needs is vital.
  • The ability to work collaboratively as part of a team, following guidance from teachers and other professionals, is crucial.
