The Cumbria, Northumberland, Tyne and Wear NHS Foundation Trust is seeking a highly motivated Mental Health Support Specialist to join their Eating Disorders Services team. This role presents an exceptional opportunity for individuals with personal lived experience of eating disorders or caring for someone who has used these services to make a meaningful impact.
As a Mental Health Support Specialist, you will be part of a multidisciplinary team working towards delivering high-quality care. Your primary focus will be on supporting carers throughout their loved ones' journey through our services. You will develop mutual peer relationships based on your own lived experience, utilizing your unique perspective to inspire others in their recovery journey.
This position offers a chance to work closely with the Clinical Team, contributing to the creation of trusting relationships while supporting carers in their recovery process. The successful candidate will be able to role model compassionate care that is based on empathy, kindness, respect, and dignity.
In addition to direct contact with carers, this role involves working within a Recovery College setting. You will collaborate with other peer supporters across the Trust, focusing on creating a supportive environment that empowers individuals to take control of their mental health.
We are committed to providing ongoing support and individual clinical supervision to ensure your success in this challenging yet rewarding position. As a valued member of our team, you will contribute to the further delivery of this service in line with NICE Guidance, DOH, NHS England, and trust policy.
This is a permanent role, offering an estimated salary range of £25,000 - £30,000 per annum, depending on location and experience. We encourage applications from individuals who share our commitment to delivering exceptional care and are passionate about promoting recovery values and principles.
To succeed in this role, you will require a good level of secondary education, a commitment to completing the CNTW Peer Supporter Educational Programme, and personal lived experience of using or caring for someone who has used eating disorder services. Experience of being in a supportive and enabling role is also essential.
Our ideal candidate will possess excellent interpersonal and team-working skills, be able to share their personal story of recovery in a professional manner, and draw on their resilience when working with challenging situations. If you are enthusiastic about the specialist nature of the Peer Support role and motivated towards its promotion and development, we encourage you to apply.
