Job Summary:

We are seeking an experienced Project Manager to join our Bioresources Capital Programme team at Yorkshire Water. As a Project Manager, you will be responsible for delivering a high-performing project management capability to ensure outputs are consistent and of excellent quality within Yorkshire Water standards and procedures.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Ensure project risks are understood, reviewed regularly, and escalated to the Programme Manager/Sponsor as appropriate.
  • Maintain a flexible and creative approach to the delivery of projects.
  • Explore and recommend alternative delivery models to meet agreed outcomes within a capital-constrained environment.
  • Manage time, cost, and quality throughout the project lifecycle from definition to benefits realization phases.
  • Manage relationships and communication between all stakeholders, ensuring requirements of all parties are captured and understood.
  • Deliver programmes/projects in a timely manner, balancing operational site times and contractor availability.
  • Deal with unforeseen circumstances efficiently, with the ability to problem-solve and balance project needs effectively while maintaining planned deadlines.
  • Monitor and manage project financial targets, implementing appropriate solutions to help recover identified shortfalls.
  • Manage H&S (CDM) requirements.
  • Maintain a high level of personal technical capability for Project Management.
  • Be responsible for the successful operation of the capital funding process and the resolution of any issues that arise in a timely manner.
  • Demonstrate the ability to work on your own initiative and self-manage.
  • Attend BIC in relation to their projects, as required.
  • Drive continuous improvement to proactively identify and remove waste from team processes and activities.

Requirements:

  • Qualified or working towards a qualification in Project Management discipline (APM, Prince 2, Agile).
  • Extensive knowledge of the project lifecycle.
  • Proven track record of delivering Capital Projects.
  • A proven track record of managing contractors and influencing performance improvements, with a good understanding of quality assurance practices.
  • Understanding of resource planning and risk management.
  • Experience of applying different delivery models based on business need.
  • Excellent interpersonal, written, and oral communication skills.
  • Strong organization and personal management skills.
  • Proven analytical and problem-solving abilities.
  • Ability to prioritize and execute tasks in a dynamic, changing environment and make sound decisions.
  • Be an effective time manager to meet stringent timescales, with the ability to multi-task, as the role demands.
  • Ability to demonstrate relentless drive, energy, and determination to deliver sustainable outperformance for YW that rigorously achieves against demanding competitive industry benchmarks and metrics from other organizations.
  • Strong organization and personal management skills, with a deep sense of purpose, proactively seeking responsibility and ownership.
  • Effective time management skills, meeting stringent timescales, with the ability to multi-task as the role demands.

  • IT Skills (skilled in the use of Microsoft Office and experience of other corporate systems PMS4 SAP/Finance systems).
  • Full valid driving license.

Desirable:

  • Good understanding of Bioresources, specifically sludge treatment technology.
  • Previous experience in a commercially orientated and/or regulated environment.
  • Experience of delivering against challenging business targets.
  • Experience of supporting and embedding change, able to influence and drive the right culture and behaviors.
