Job Title: Senior Engineer - Structural Engineering (Shock and Dynamics)

Location: Barrow-in-Furness

Salary: From £39,000 - depending on skills and experience

Job Summary:

We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Engineer to join our Shock and Dynamics team. As a Senior Engineer, you will play a key role in ensuring structures and equipment are verified against naval shock requirements.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Support Principal Engineers with the setting of sub-system requirements to meet whole boat naval shock requirements
  • Support management of verification, validation (V&V) and qualification evidence to ensure sub-systems meet shock requirements
  • Develop design justification documentation
  • Support and undertake assessments of structures and equipment subjected to naval shock load cases
  • Provide design guidance at design reviews with respect to naval shock load cases
  • Undertake peer review checking activities
  • Support physical shock test activities
Requirements:
  • Mechanical Engineering Degree (or STEM degree)
  • Knowledge of undertaking structural design calculations (i.e. bolted joints / bending moment / shear stress)
  • Understanding of material strength properties and limits (elastic and plastic properties)
