Railway Station Operative

As a Railway Station Operative, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the safe and efficient operation of trains and stations. You will be responsible for providing up-to-date travel information to customers and assisting them in reaching their destinations safely and on time.
Main Responsibilities:- You will provide cover for a variety of shifts as and when required, including working at other local stations when needed.
- Ensuring the safety of thousands of customers every day by operating your station professionally.
- Providing customers with timely updates about their journeys through announcements and face-to-face interactions, showcasing your personality to create a memorable experience.
- Working closely with train staff and colleagues to ensure trains depart safely and on schedule, liaising with station and control teams as necessary.
- Safely dispatching trains from platforms while ensuring all customers are clear of the train and observing correct signals, requiring normal colour vision for this position.
- Developing expertise on customer SWR journeys, key destinations, attractions, and London transport, becoming a valuable resource for customers.
- Being flexible and willing to tackle various tasks, taking ownership of your station and maintaining quality and safety standards that meet customer expectations.
- Able to commute to work locations within 60 minutes for all shift times.
- Necessary access to a personal vehicle insured for commuting purposes.
- Organised and efficient, with the ability to handle repetitive tasks under pressure.
- An excellent communicator who can engage with anyone.
- Passionate about doing the right thing, with a 'nothing is too much trouble' attitude.
- Proficient in using technology.
- Confidence to make regular live announcements at your station.
- Able to distinguish colours with normal colour vision.
