Clinical Responsibilities:

The successful candidate will be responsible for a variety of duties, including:

  1. Conducting surgery consultations
  2. Providing telephone consultations and responding to queries
  3. Visiting patients at home as needed
  4. Checking and signing prescriptions, both repeat and acute, in a timely manner
  5. Managing queries, paperwork, results, and correspondence in a professional and efficient way

Making informed, autonomous decisions regarding presenting problems, whether self-referred or referred from other healthcare workers within the organisation.

Assessing the healthcare needs of patients with undifferentiated and undiagnosed problems, and developing care plans in consultation with patients and in line with current Practice disease management protocols.

Screening patients for disease risk factors and early signs of illness, and providing health education and counselling as needed.

Providing Duty Doctor support to the administrative and clinical teams as required, and undertaking all normal duties and responsibilities associated with a GP working within primary care.

Other Responsibilities within the Organisation:

  1. Awareness of and compliance with all relevant Practice policies/guidelines, including prescribing, confidentiality, data protection, and health and safety.
  2. A commitment to lifelong learning and audit to ensure evidence-based best practice.
  3. Contributing to evaluation/audit and clinical standard setting within the organisation.
  4. Contributing to the development of computer-based patient records.
  5. Contributing to the summarising of patient records and Read-Coding patient data.
  6. Attending training and events organised by the Practice or other agencies, where appropriate.
  7. Adhering to and following all policies and protocols as listed in the Staff Handbook and contract.
  8. Following all Practice Health and Safety guidelines and policies, and informing the H&S lead of any infringements.
