Job Title: Care and Support Worker

We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Care and Support Worker to join our team at Holt House, a residential care home in Prestwich, Manchester.

As a Care and Support Worker, you will play a vital role in providing exceptional care and support to our residents, ensuring they live their lives to the fullest. You will work closely with our team to deliver person-centred care, responding to the unique needs and preferences of each resident.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Contribute to person-centred assessment planning, implementation, and review.
  • Deliver care and support that recognises the individual needs of residents with dementia.
  • Fulfill the role of key worker for allocated residents.
  • Support independence in daily living tasks.
  • Promote equality, diversity, and inclusion.

Care Provision:

  • Share in person-centred assessment planning, implementation, and review.
  • Recognise, respect, and support the social, emotional, and spiritual well-being of residents.
  • Remain alert and attentive to residents' needs, ensuring their needs are met at all times.
  • Enable interaction and communication, considering the special needs of residents with dementia.
  • Ensure your actions support the care, protection, and well-being of residents.
  • Help address the physical comfort needs of residents.
  • Support residents with personal care and continence needs.
  • Provide support for mobility and contribute to moving and handling residents.
  • Support residents in monitoring their health care needs, including medication support and administration when trained and qualified.
  • Support residents in journeys to and from the home if required.
  • Engage residents in recreational and development activities, including those outside the home.
  • Provide food and drink to residents, assisting with eating and drinking as needed.
  • Respond to residents' refreshment requests, adhering to individual care plans.
  • Support residents who are distressed, maintaining a respectful and caring approach.
  • Support residents at the end of their life.

Recording and Communication:

  • Observe, monitor, and record resident conditions, reporting as required.
  • Communicate with and complete records for residents, contributing to care plans.
  • Receive and pass on messages and information.

General Duties:

  • Support the health and safety of yourself and residents, complying with relevant legislation and Salvation Army procedures.
  • Attend and participate in staff meetings.
  • Participate in supervision and appraisal.
  • Share in a flexible rolling rota.
  • Develop knowledge and practice through provided training.
  • Follow the guidance set out in the Code of Conduct for Healthcare Support Workers and Adult Social Care Workers in England.
  • Work positively as a member of the team, maintaining effective and harmonious relationships with staff.

Requirements:

  • Experience in caring for someone in your personal life.
  • Experience working in Adult Social Care.
  • L2 Health and Social Care desirable but not essential.

Benefits:

  • Full-time shifts are 35 hours paid per week.
  • Early shift: 07:30 AM - 2:30 PM.
  • Late shift: 2:30 PM - 9:30 PM.
  • Salary: From £11.25 per hour.
  • Schedule: Monday to Friday, plus some weekend work.
