Job Summary

Bramhall & Shaw Heath Medical Group is seeking a highly skilled and organized Medical Receptionist to join our team. As the first point of contact, this role is integral to our approach to patient care, both face-to-face and over the phone.

Main Responsibilities

Receive, assist, and direct patients in person or via phone in accessing the appropriate service or healthcare professional in a courteous, efficient, and effective way.

Ensure that patient enquiries are efficiently handled.

Provide general assistance to the practice team and project a positive and friendly image to patients and other visitors, either in person or via the telephone.

About Us

We are a large, friendly teaching GP practice with over 14,000 patients and a team of enthusiastic, multi-disciplinary, and friendly staff. We require a Medical Receptionist with initiative, drive, strong interpersonal, admin, and IT skills.

Job Responsibilities:

Reception

  • Process appointment requests from patients by telephone and in person.
  • Provide general assistance to the practice team and project a positive and friendly image to patients and other visitors, either in person or via the telephone.
  • Deal with home visit requests, ensuring they are entered on the computer with the patient records.

Administration

  • Assist with all practice-based reception admin tasks as directed.
  • Have a thorough knowledge of all practice procedures.
  • Work in accordance with practice policies/protocols and processes.
  • Any other tasks allocated by managers.

Other Tasks

  • Clear and stock rooms after surgeries.
  • Any other tasks allocated by managers.

Person Specification

Qualifications

Essential

  • Excellent interpersonal skills.
  • Team player.
  • Proficient in the use of MS Word/Excel.

Desirable

  • Previous General Practice experience.
  • GCSE grade C or above.
  • Full training will be given to applicants with relevant transferable skills.
