About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Chef de Partie to join our team at Brasenose College. This is an exciting opportunity to work in a well-established kitchen environment with a reputation for excellence.

Key Responsibilities
  • Prepare meals in accordance with College standards, maintaining the kitchen and its associated areas in a clean and hygienic condition.
  • Assist in the preparation, presentation, and service of food at required times, ensuring high standards of quality and portion control.
  • Lead the team while on shift, delegating tasks as appropriate to ensure provision of high standards of food production.
  • Assist with menu planning and staff rotas, overseeing the checking and storing of supplies, including temperature monitoring and assessment of goods on receipt.
  • Develop and train subordinate staff, ensuring that food costs do not exceed the approved budget.
Person Specification
  • Thorough knowledge of food hygiene standards.
  • Minimum of NVQ Level 3 or equivalent catering qualifications, including ability to design appropriate menus.
  • Ability to lead a team and work without direct supervision.
  • Adequate knowledge of English to ensure understanding of instructions and ability to communicate effectively with staff and customers.
  • Good knowledge and understanding of stock control and control of wastage, including ability to learn the online ordering system.
  • Ability to work flexibly over shift patterns during conferences and for other functions.
  • Excellent organisational, prioritising, and time management skills.
