Are you a skilled engineer looking for a challenging role in the aviation industry? National Air Traffic Services is seeking an experienced Air Traffic Systems Engineer to join their team at Farnborough Airport.

This exciting opportunity involves providing engineering services, working closely with the airport to ensure critical air traffic equipment is available and responding to failures to minimize downtime. As a focal point for planned and corrective maintenance management, you will prioritize faults, direct engineering resources, and make operational decisions to restore service safely and efficiently.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Planning and executing planned and corrective maintenance on air traffic control systems
  • Prioritizing faults and directing engineering resources towards safe and expeditious restoration of service
  • Making operational decisions, providing guidance, specialist advice, and assistance
  • Maintaining clear and accurate records for all activities where required
  • Briefing air traffic control and other engineering staff, supervising airport maintenance engineers, and ensuring compliance with NATS Management System

To be successful in this role, you will require a professional engineering qualification (Higher National Certificate or SQF Level 7) in Electronics, Telecommunications, Computer Science, or a relevant Engineering discipline. Alternatively, you can demonstrate one of the following criteria:

  • Relevant lower-level engineering qualifications coupled with demonstrable engineering experience in a relevant field
  • Evidence of substantial experience gained in a relevant transferable environment (such as ATSEP)
  • Experience of supporting systems and equipment like those used by ANSPs, and experience in maintenance engineering on this type of equipment

You will also need to demonstrate an understanding of safety-critical systems and their impact within our operational environment. A full UK driving licence, flexible approach, and ability to work unsupervised are essential. We offer a competitive salary of £60,000 - £80,000 per annum, dependent on experience, plus a range of benefits, including a rotational shift pattern, on-call requirements, and a total reward package that will help you thrive both personally and professionally.
