Job Summary

The NHS England board has set out the top-level purpose for the new organisation to lead the NHS in England to deliver high-quality services for all. We are seeking an outstanding individual to fill the role of Training Programme Director for Geriatric Medicine in North West London.

This is a 1 X (1 PA) Training Programme Director vacancy. The successful applicant will work closely with the Head of School, Deputy Heads of School, other specialty TPDs, LaSE team, and other key departments to ensure that both national standards and guidelines and standards established within London are met.

The Programme Director will oversee the Specialty's Regional Training Programme, manage specialty-specific matters and trainee/trainer concerns, and be responsible for recruitment to training posts and programmes. They will also work with the Postgraduate Dean to produce doctors who will strive for the highest standards of patient-centred care and commit themselves to a lifetime of professional development.

Main Duties of the Job

  • Oversee the Specialty's Regional Training Programme
  • Manage specialty-specific matters and trainee/trainer concerns
  • Recruit to training posts and programmes
  • Postgraduate programme management, including assessments, progression, rotations, support and remediation, OOP management, trainee management careers support, less than full-time training, inter-deanery transfer, academic training and other related work-streams

The ideal candidate will be an experienced NHS Consultant with a thorough understanding of Geriatric Medicine training across the region and who will also have strong leadership and communication skills and be able to work effectively as a member of a multi-professional team.
