Job Title: Behaviour Support Specialist
Academics is seeking a Behaviour Support Specialist to join our team. As a Behaviour Support Specialist, you will work with students who require additional support with their social, emotional, and mental health.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide assistance and supervision for students' behaviour during the school day and support their learning and participation in class
- Work 1-1 with students to help them learn ways of managing and controlling their own behaviours
- Recognise behaviour triggers and help to de-escalate challenging situations
- Work with a class, a small group or individual learners, both inside and outside of the classroom
- Encourage the development of social skills and support students' individual needs
- Help to build confidence and motivation
- Participate in team meetings and training programmes as an active member of a team
- Support regulations pertaining to safeguarding
Requirements:
- An Undergraduate Degree, ideally in a relevant subject such as Psychology or Criminology
- Prior experience as a learning support assistant/mentor in a school setting, ideally for challenging students
- Knowledge and/or a keen interest and understanding of the range of different types of learning and behavioural needs
- Good general education levels in English and Maths - A Levels are preferable
- A co-operative working style and a proactive approach to solving problems
- Good interpersonal and communication skills and a caring attitude
What We Offer:
- A competitive daily rate of £85 to £100
- A 5-day week, 30am to 4.00pm
