Job Description

Pertemps Cambridge is seeking a highly skilled Transport Operations Manager to join our team on a night shift basis. As a key member of our transport team, you will be responsible for providing strategic and dynamic transport solutions to meet the demands of our growing customer base.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Develop and implement transport strategies to ensure compliance with customer growth, diversity, and health and safety requirements.
  • Manage a fleet of over 30 vehicles and 40 plus trailers, ensuring optimal utilization and minimizing costs.
  • Lead a team of 50 drivers and agency drivers, providing training and awareness programs to ensure compliance with company policies and procedures.
  • Liaise with satellite bases across the Midlands and Northwest to ensure customer satisfaction and meet contractual performance targets.
  • Oversee fleet compliance, fleet management, and damage and accident reporting, ensuring seamless operations and minimizing downtime.
  • Develop and implement KPIs and reports to track performance and identify areas for improvement.
Requirements:
  • Minimum 3 years of experience in transport supply chain management.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to work effectively with stakeholders at all levels.
  • Proven track record of achieving targets and meeting deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • Intermediate or above computer literacy skills, with experience in fleet management software.
  • Fluent English language skills, with the ability to communicate effectively with a diverse range of stakeholders.
Desirable Skills:
  • CPC national and international certification.
  • Experience with Microlise and Axscend fleet management software.
  • Tachomaster experience.
  • Familiarity with trade union environments.
