About the Role
We're seeking a highly motivated and experienced Transportation Supervisor to manage the day-to-day operations of our depot. As an Operations Supervisor, you will be responsible for supporting the Operational Management in maintaining and managing assets, resources, and facilities to maximise cost efficiencies.
Key Responsibilities:
- Demonstrate leadership qualities in the day-to-day running of shifts, encouraging and coaching all staff members.
- Maintain internal databases and follow up on defects with the Fleet Department where applicable.
- Administer the vehicle and trailer maintenance program.
- Complete daily checks during shifts and record on the central system, including trailers, returns, re-books, and pallets.
- Direct contact with drivers on daily performance and improvement actions.
- Provide information and support the Operation's Manager to enable planning and management of depot payroll.
- Ensure all personnel files are up-to-date, incorporating license validation, personal details, and completed training.
- Coordinate the recruitment and training of employees.
- Assist in accident investigation and follow-up.
- Complete daily risk assessments of the yard and office.
- Identify and inform the Operations Manager of any maintenance and repair issues in the site.
Requirements:
- A successful track record of leading and motivating a diverse team to achieve common goals.
- Excellent communication skills, energetic leadership style, and strong problem-solving abilities.
- Previous experience working within a similar transport-related role is essential, with a good working knowledge of EU Hours, Working Time Directives, and Tachograph legislation preferably with CPC National Qualification.
- PC literate, with knowledge of Excel spreadsheets.
- Ability to work on their own initiative and willingness to resolve issues.
- 1 year's experience in transport operations.
