Radiology Nurse

The successful candidate will be responsible for delivering high-quality patient care in the radiology department. This will involve working collaboratively with other healthcare professionals to ensure that patients receive the best possible care.
Key Duties- Deliver evidence-based care to patients
- Ensure good standards of care are maintained at all times
- Adhere to the NMC Code of Professional Conduct and standards for registration
- Support patients, relatives, carers, and friends in the care of the patient
- Promote well-being and involve patients and relatives in health education
- Ensure clear and accurate written and verbal information is given at all times
- Take responsibility for managing and coordinating the interventional suite
- Acknowledge personal limitations in patient care and seek advice from senior staff members
- Rotate to other departments within the specialty as required
- Conduct patient ward rounds to prepare for next day's list
- Manage a pre-assessment clinic and perform nurse-led pre-assessment clinics
- Ensure equipment competencies are completed
- Have effective communication and time management skills
- Assist with the administration of intravenous injections
- Liaise effectively with all members of the multi-disciplinary team
- Exercise leadership and take the initiative where appropriate
- Provide support and advice to ward/unit staff
- Keep the ward/unit sister/charge nurse informed of significant changes and/or anticipated problems
- Participate in the teaching and supervision of junior staff and student nurses
- Participate in Trust and Divisional initiatives to develop practice and support change
- Anticipate day-to-day staffing problems and take appropriate action
- Act as a liaison within the multi-disciplinary team to ensure optimum, timely patient care
- Observe a general duty of care for the health, safety, and well-being of yourself, work colleagues, visitors, and patients within the hospital
- Ensure the rules, policies, procedures, and standards of King's College Hospital NHS Foundation Trust are adhered to at all times
- Adhere to the Trust's policy on valuing equality and diversity
- Take responsibility for your own personal development and keep up to date with nursing and medical knowledge
- Be aware of current research and the implications for the ward/unit specialty
- Act as a role model at all times and for all staff
- Act as a mentor to other staff members and students
- Take responsibility for own professional development and to agreed plans with the sister/charge nurse and PDN
- Participate in Trust and Divisional initiatives to develop nursing practice and support change
- Have a commitment to improve patient care by participating in audit and research projects within the department
- Report adverse incidents which occur in the department as per policy
- Accurately record stock movements on the radiology inventory system
