About the Role

We are seeking a highly motivated and compassionate Support Worker to join our team at Southern Housing. As a Support Worker, you will play a vital role in providing support services to vulnerable residents, promoting independence and empowering them to live fulfilling lives.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide support to residents and individuals receiving services from us, based on their needs assessment and support plan.
  • Deliver services using a strengths-based approach, promoting independence, rights, choices, dignity, and inclusion.
  • Summon professional assistance in emergency situations.
  • Practice within the criteria set by the Local Authority, ensuring residents have up-to-date support plans reflecting their needs, wishes, and agreed outcomes.
  • Deliver key working sessions, promoting engagement with individuals in the service, writing plans to help them achieve their goals and desired outcomes.
  • Maintain and develop professional relationships with individuals receiving services and stakeholders.
  • Promote life skills and social skills, encouraging resident involvement and playing a key role in the successful implementation of the Customer Involvement Framework.
  • Signpost and access specialist services as required to meet identified outcomes.
  • Provide assistance with security of residents' homes and support with maintaining a safe living environment.
  • Follow health and safety policies and procedures at all times, including lone working and infection control.
Requirements
  • A good level of written and verbal communication skills.
  • Demonstrate empathy, compassion, and patience.
  • Able to adapt to working environments.
  • A willingness and ability to train towards an NVQ 2 in Care.
  • Hold at least 5 GCSE passes at grade C or above (or equivalent, Grade 9-5) including Maths and English.
  • Will need to be willing and able to train towards an NVQ 3, or equivalent relevant work-based qualification.
