About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Automation and Control Specialist to join our team at Ross-shire Engineering Limited. As an Automation and Control Specialist, you will be responsible for designing, specifying, programming, simulating, testing, and starting up automation and control systems solutions in the Water industry.

Your key duties will include:

  • Designing and specifying control systems solutions that meet client requirements.
  • Developing detailed design proposals that establish the scope of work required for new build and ICA refurbishment projects.
  • Defining control system hardware and software requirements.
  • Assisting electrical engineers with the development of robust Control Systems Architectures using appropriate technology in accordance with Client, WIMES, and industrial standards.
  • Defining project Software Testing strategy and ensuring appropriate time and resources are allocated.
  • Identifying programme requirements to deliver Control System elements to achieve project milestone dates.
  • Developing detailed Functional Design Specifications and associated schedules from agreed Control Philosophy in accordance with Company's Quality procedures.
  • Implementation of robust change control during entire project lifecycle.
  • Developing and self-testing control system software to achieve required functionality in accordance with FDS.
  • Developing Factory Acceptance Test Documentation.
  • Fully documenting, resolving, and re-testing any defects identified during testing.
  • Providing specialist control system assistance to Commissioning Teams within workshop and on-site in conjunction with RSE PM.
  • Carrying out Site Acceptance Testing of Control System against SAT document.
  • Investigating and providing technical advice and support to design, delivery, and senior management teams on automation-related issues.
  • Managing specification, development, installation, and validation of automation projects within budget and corporate guidelines.

The ideal candidate will have:

  • HNC/HND Degree in Engineering or equivalent, with particular emphasis in electrical, mechanical, electronic, automation, and/or chemical discipline.
  • Proven ability in design and commissioning of control and electrical systems associated with process automation, preferably in Hydro power and Water sector.
  • Detailed experience in development of Control Systems solutions using Programmable Logic Controllers (PLCs) and HMI/SCADA and Telemetry Systems in process control environment using one or more of following manufacturers: Allen-Bradley, Siemens, Rockwell, or Schneider.
  • Experience in integration and modification into existing systems PLC control systems in live environment.
  • Working knowledge and understanding of electrical schematics.
  • Must be flexible and willing to travel, including regular site working.
  • ECS/CSCS card.
  • Full UK Driving Licence.
