Job Summary

The Devon and Somerset Fire and Rescue Service is seeking a highly skilled Finance Project Lead to join their team. As a key member of the project team, you will partner with external suppliers to implement a new finance system, ensuring successful delivery within agreed timescales.

Key Responsibilities

  • Coordinate workshops to document requirements and configurations, ensuring a clear understanding of the project's scope and objectives.
  • Plan and manage the migration of historical data from the old system to the new system, ensuring seamless integration and minimal disruption.
  • Implement new processes and controls to support the finance system, ensuring they are fully documented and compliant with regulatory requirements.
  • Oversee the integration of the solution within the existing systems architecture, working closely with relevant systems experts to ensure a smooth transition.
  • Ensure all security controls are in place, providing users with the necessary access based on their roles and departments.
  • Provide training and support to users of the new system, including writing training notes and guides.
  • Produce standard and bespoke reports as required, ensuring timely and accurate delivery.
  • Manage relevant Finance staff, ensuring work is allocated appropriately, work plans are agreed, and results are monitored.
  • Provide mentoring, support, and guidance through the Personal Development Review process, ensuring staff receive appropriate training and development.

Requirements

  • Relevant experience working in an accountancy environment, with a strong understanding of financial systems and processes.
  • AAT qualified or equivalent, with experience in the administration of computerised financial systems.
  • Ability to handle a varied workload within set deadlines, with strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to operate with probity, adhering to all legislative regulations relating to financial matters.
  • Experience of administering a system, including access controls and workflows, as well as delivering training in the use of a product.
  • Understanding of an accounting coding structure and data migration, including mapping of an old coding structure to a new one.
