Job Description

This position presents an excellent opportunity to join our pharmacy team at the Sutton site of The Royal Marsden. As a Pharmacy Technician, you will be part of a skilled team comprising Pharmacists, Technicians, and Assistants, all working together to deliver outstanding patient care.

Your key responsibilities will include maintaining the safe and efficient operation of the SACT Distribution Unit (SDU), ensuring the procurement, storage, dispensing, final checking, and distribution of batch and patient-specific products to all hospital areas. You will collaborate closely with the Stores Manager, Pharmacy Systems Manager, and Chief Technicians to guarantee efficient product delivery.

Key Accountabilities
  1. Maintain and manage the safe and efficient daily operation of the SACT Distribution Unit (SDU).
  2. Oversee the procurement, storage, dispensing, final checking, and distribution of batch and patient-specific products to all hospital areas.
  3. Supervise and support the daily operational management of the SDU, assisting the Lead Pharmacy Technician when required.
  4. Develop and lead junior team members, setting a positive example.
  5. Collaborate with Stores Manager, Pharmacy Systems Manager, and Chief Technicians to ensure seamless product delivery.
  6. Assist the Lead Pharmacy Technician in directing, supervising, and coordinating the SDU's daily operations according to established procedures.
  7. Guarantee timely delivery of batch and patient-specific products to the correct units or wards.
  8. Spearhead improvements in the batch and PS supply pathway, including efficient medicine transfers to clinical areas.
  9. Resolve patient treatment-related issues through close liaison with clinical unit and pharmacy staff.
  10. Enhance the SDU service through participation in audits, data collection, and implementation of new initiatives.
Compensation and Benefits

We offer a competitive annual salary of approximately £38,000 - £42,000, based on experience, alongside a package of benefits including learning and professional development opportunities, flexible working options, and a dynamic work environment.
