About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Chargehand to join our team at Biffa Waste Services Limited. As a Chargehand, you will play a key role in the planning, control, and supervision of staff and resources, including vehicles, plant, equipment, and sub-contractors.

Key Responsibilities
  • Maintain high standards of contractor/client liaison and ensure effective communication with all stakeholders.
  • Induct new employees as per Company procedures and contract standards, ensuring they are aware of their responsibilities under the H&S at Work Act and other work-related legislation.
  • Ensure all staff are aware of their responsibilities and complete defined responsibilities as per the company's Health & Safety system for this position.
  • Maintain accurate records and systems for the effective operation of the contract, including stock records of materials and supplies.
  • Assist the Company in achieving its published Business Objectives and complying with all procedures in line with the ISO system.
  • Deputise for Contract Supervisor as required.
Requirements
  • Be a team-player with excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, including IT.
  • Ability to delegate, train, lead, and monitor workforce.
  • Experience of planning workload, holidays, and scheduling.
  • Basic knowledge of Health and Safety Policy & Procedures.
  • Calm, assertive, and confident, with the ability to show sympathy as required.
  • Attention to detail and ability to maintain accurate records.
