We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Mechanical Design Engineer to join our team in Christchurch, UK.
The successful candidate will be responsible for delivering all mechanical aspects of new product introduction from initial concept through to release to production and beyond. This includes interpreting customer requirements, defining specifications, and developing robust mechanical design solutions to meet these requirements on time and to budget.
Key Responsibilities:
- Take ownership and responsibility for delivering all mechanical aspects of the project to agreed timescales.
- Produce and interpret engineering drawings and specifications in accordance with national and international standards.
- Demonstrate suitability of proposed design solutions through the use of engineering tools and practices.
- Define product testing as appropriate to known regulatory standards.
- Creation and maintenance of supporting documentation.
Requirements:
- Degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent.
- Highly experienced, minimum of 5 years' experience, working within an electro-mechanical design environment.
- Experience of 3D modeling software packages.
- Demonstrable understanding of engineering materials and their properties.
Desirable:
- Experience with Advanced Solid Modelling using SolidWorks.
- Finite Element Analysis - Stress, modal, non-linear, and/or magnetics.
- Understanding of designing enclosures to dissipate heat.
- Experienced in the use of die casting and plastic moldings in product design.
- Familiarity with the requirements of the medical mobility market or other safety-critical design arena.
