Job Overview

We are seeking a dedicated and skilled Higher Level Teaching Assistant to join our team at River Tyne Academy Gateshead. This is an exciting opportunity for an individual who is passionate about supporting learners to succeed and thrive in a challenging environment.

About Us

River Tyne Academy Gateshead is a specialist school that works with learners who have been permanently excluded from their previous school or require additional support. Our curriculum is broad and balanced, providing learners with the core skills and qualifications needed to progress in education and training post-16 or into employment. We pride ourselves on our relational approach, setting clear boundaries while encouraging a love of learning and positive relationships.

Duties and Responsibilities

The successful candidate will contribute to a wide range of teaching and learning activities, assisting and supporting qualified teachers with individual pupils, small groups, and whole classes. Key accountabilities include:
  • Contribute to plans/bespoke programs as directed
  • Act as a learning mentor for a group of students

Key Skills and Qualifications

Required skills and qualifications include:
  • A good standard of general education to Level 2 or equivalent including English and Mathematics
  • To meet the requirements for HLTA or have an immediate commitment to do so
  • Use of ICT to enhance children's learning
  • Experience of effectively supporting teaching staff by contributing to planning and preparation of lessons which support individual needs of students
  • The ability to engage successfully with young people exhibiting difficult and challenging behaviour
  • The ability to communicate effectively with a wide range of people, including young people, their families, professionals etc
  • The ability to write concise, accurate and professional reports
  • The ability to maintain accurate records of interventions with young people
  • The ability to negotiate effectively
  • The ability to work in a non-confrontational manner
  • The ability to work independently with small groups/individuals
  • The ability to plan and deliver programs in line with national curriculum core subjects

Salary

The salary for this position is £24,746.00-£26,057.00 per year. Visas cannot be sponsored.
