Job Title: Compliance Safety Officer

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Compliance Safety Officer to join our team in the Commonwealth of Virginia.

About the Job

The Compliance Safety Officer will be responsible for developing, monitoring, and implementing the University's health and safety policies and programs. This includes conducting regular inspections of facilities and university campus resources, responding to health and safety conditions or matters requiring immediate attention, and assisting in the development and implementation of the University's health and safety policies.

Responsibilities
  • Conduct regular health and safety inspections of facilities and university campus resources
  • Respond to health and safety conditions or matters requiring immediate attention
  • Assist in the development and implementation of the University's health and safety policies
  • Develop and deliver periodic safety training workshops for faculty, staff, and students
  • Provide subject-matter-expert guidance on chemical procedures and regulations
  • Perform regular testing of emergency management equipment and systems
  • Ensure compliance with federal and state statutes and regulations on safety standards
Requirements

To be considered for this position, applicants must possess a strong background in environmental health and safety regulatory requirements, with experience interpreting and applying state and federal regulations related to Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) and other industry standard regulations. Additionally, applicants must have excellent communication and documentation skills, as well as the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment.

Preferred Qualifications

A bachelor's degree in engineering, biology, chemistry, safety, or a related discipline is preferred. Industry standard certification in OSHA and/or other relevant safety programs is also desirable.

What We Offer

This is a full-time position with a competitive salary of $60,000 - $80,000 per year, depending on experience. We offer a comprehensive benefits package, including medical, dental, and vision insurance, as well as retirement savings options. The selected candidate will also receive a 12-month probationary period.
