Job Title: SEN Teaching Support

Academics is seeking a dedicated and compassionate SEN Teaching Support to join our team in Portsmouth. As a Teaching Assistant, you will play a vital role in supporting the social skills, emotional well-being, and mental health of students with Social, Emotional and Mental Health Difficulties and Special Educational Needs.

Job Summary:

We are looking for a strong and confident Teaching Assistant to work with our client schools in Portsmouth. The ideal candidate will have a degree in a related field or experience working with young people, and will be able to provide support to students who have experienced trauma and require someone with resilience and an open-mind to support their mental health challenges.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Support the social skills, emotional well-being, and mental health of students with Social, Emotional and Mental Health Difficulties and Special Educational Needs.
  • Work closely with trained professionals, including Psychologists and Therapists, to provide alternative education for children who have social & emotional difficulties.
  • Provide individualized support to students, enabling and empowering them to understand that 'great minds think differently, to gain confidence in themselves and progress their learning.'
  • Collaborate with the teaching team to develop and implement strategies to support students with complex needs.
  • Contribute to a positive and inclusive learning environment that promotes the well-being and success of all students.
Requirements:
  • Relevant degree or experience working with young people.
  • Ability to work with students who have experienced trauma and require someone with resilience and an open-mind to support their mental health challenges.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively as part of a team.
  • Flexibility and adaptability in a fast-paced environment.
