At AtkinsRéalis, we are seeking a skilled Project Engineer to join our Power Grids Market within our Net Zero Energy Business. This role will be based in Glasgow or Birmingham, with a flexible mixture of home-working and office/site collaboration time expected.
We are undergoing unprecedented change in the UK Energy market as we strive towards a net zero carbon target. Our sector must contend with high penetration of modern generation, transmission, and distribution technologies, energy storage, and prepare for the increased demand associated with the electrification of transport and heat as the country progresses along the decarbonisation pathway.
As part of the Net Zero agenda, networks have a crucial role in delivering the renewable energy required to be connected. The transmission network operators have secured c.£8bn as part of the RIIO T2 package.
Your Key Responsibilities:
- Providing input to and supporting Project Managers to coordinate and progress project engineering deliverables.
- Co-ordinating and gathering project engineering input from our subject matter experts and individual discipline engineering teams.
- Integration/co-ordination of engineering activities across multi-discipline design projects.
- Management of technical requirements from concept to detail design and delivery, including application of strong change control and risk management.
- You have experience of being involved in engineering projects, delivering to time, cost, quality, and safety, and can demonstrate your application of project engineering skills, across projects with various technical challenges.
- You are a fantastic communicator and can integrate quickly into diverse teams. You have an ability to self-motivate, get the best out of other team members, and deal with conflict, in conjunction with a strong delivery culture.
- You are an organiser but are also adaptable and have a 'can-do' approach.
- A degree or HNC/HND in a related engineering-based discipline (Preference for electrical bias).
- Experience of project engineering, planning, and deliver, engineering design, and working with design teams.
- Management of multiple stakeholders and a strong quality, safety, security, and environmental focus.
- Knowledge of CDM regulations, understanding, and identifying project risks.
- Applicants must have the right to work in the UK and must have experience in the transmission and distribution sector.
- Commercial awareness.
We value your diversity and believe that everyone deserves to thrive – no exceptions. You'll be part of a culture committed to finding new talent from underrepresented groups. We're Disability Confident, an Inclusive Employer, and support STEM Returners. We also want to see more women in senior roles at AtkinsRéalis. In the energy sector, we've signed up to the AXIS Pledge, promising to make equal pay, equal leadership, and equal opportunities a reality.
This role may require security clearance, and offers of employment will be dependent on obtaining the relevant level of clearance. If this is necessary, it will be discussed with you at interview. The vetting process is delivered by United Kingdom Security Vetting (UKSV) and may require candidates to provide proof of residency in the UK of 5 years or longer.
