About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Mechanical Engineer to join our team at VVB Engineering (UK) Limited. As a Mechanical Engineer, you will play a key role in supporting our projects from design to completion.

Key Responsibilities
  • Undertake Mechanical design reviews to ensure compliance with current standards and best practices.
  • Design and develop Mechanical systems, including HVAC, pumped drainage, and public health systems.
  • Ensure design risk assessments are compliant with installation parameters and client requirements.
  • Participate in Hazard Identification (HazID) exercises as required by clients.
  • Provide engineered solutions to key project problems, taking into account client expectations, project restrictions, and budget considerations.
  • Provide technical support and expertise to various sectors and projects.
  • Manage design registers, meeting minutes, drawing registers, and other associated documentation.
  • Direct liaison with CAD/BIM teams to ensure correct drawing modeling and clash detection.
  • Develop scope documents for tenders and procurement processes.
  • Liaise with manufacturers to determine product suitability and compatibility.
  • Attend Factory Acceptance Tests (FAT) and Site Acceptance Tests (SAT) to ensure compliance with requirements.
  • Support the commissioning of Mechanical systems and, where required, carry out commissioning activities.
  • Support the maintenance team with fault finding of Mechanical systems.
  • Conduct site surveys and visits for tendering and project purposes, including identifying scope, improvements to systems, dilapidation, and design requirements.
  • Direct liaison with installation teams to ensure design suitability, works methodology, and resolve key installation issues.
  • Work with the commercial department to track technical or design changes and variances.
  • Work with the planning department to plan design, installation, and testing and commissioning (T&C) works.
  • Manage subcontractor works, including assisting the commercial department in valuation and contract support.
  • Ensure design and works comply with VVB and client quality management systems.
  • Stay up-to-date with Mechanical, construction, and relevant legislation, law, standards, and best practices.
Requirements
  • Degree in Mechanical Engineering.
  • Engineering Council Registration as Incorporated Engineer.
  • Registered member of IMechE, IET, CIBSE, or other recognized Engineering Council Institutions.
  • SMSTS certification.
  • CSCS/ECS Card.
  • Full UK driver's license.
  • Masters Degree in Mechanical Engineering.
  • Engineering Council Registration as Chartered Engineer.
  • Project management qualification, APM, PRINCE 2, or equivalent.
  • Formal HSE training, NEBOSH Construction Certificate.
  • DSEAR & ATEX formal training.

Experience
  • Experience within a similar Mechanical Engineering position.
  • Previous experience within the infrastructure/construction environment (utilities/civils, etc.).
  • Mechanical Design/Commissioning experience.
  • Previous experience with tunnel ventilation.
