Police Dispatcher

Job Summary:

The Commonwealth of Virginia is seeking a skilled Police Dispatcher to join our team. As a key member of our public safety communications team, you will be responsible for responding to emergency calls, dispatching police officers, and providing critical information to the public.

Key Responsibilities:

* Respond to emergency calls and dispatch police officers to scenes
* Provide critical information to the public and police officers
* Monitor fire, panic, and intrusion alarms
* Operate two-way voice radio equipment
* Apply knowledge of public safety communications practices and procedures

Requirements:

* Demonstrated knowledge of effective customer service techniques
* Excellent oral and written communications skills
* Strong multi-tasking skills
* Ability to communicate effectively with members of the department, the campus community, and the general public
* Ability to interpret and follow established policies and procedures

Preferred Qualifications:

* Experience in public safety communications or a related field
* Knowledge of emergency response procedures and protocols

Working Conditions:
