Community Paediatric Phlebotomy Specialist

We are seeking a skilled and experienced phlebotomist to join our team at Queen Elizabeth Hospital, Woolwich. The successful candidate will be responsible for collecting blood samples from patients in a safe and efficient manner, adhering to good laboratory practice and trust policies.
Key Responsibilities:- To collect blood samples from patients as requested by an authorised officer, using approved methods.
- To communicate effectively with patients, ensuring their welfare and dignity are respected.
- To be physically able to undertake the requirements of the role, including standing, sitting, stretching, and reaching.
- To ensure patient identification details are checked before the venepuncture procedure is performed.
- To ensure correct labelling of sample tubes and correlation of request forms with samples.
- To establish a relationship of trust with patients and other staff, maintaining a good public image and perception of Phlebotomy.
- To provide an efficient and high-quality service to all patients at all times.
- To keep phlebotomy areas clean and tidy, adhering to Health and Safety policies.
- To comply with all Trust and Departmental procedures concerning phlebotomy, including infection control.
- Basic Numeracy and literacy.
- NVQ level 2 or 6 month practical phlebotomy experience.
- 6 month Practical Phlebotomy experience.
- Experience of laboratory computer systems.
- Paediatric phlebotomy experience.
- Previous hospital experience.
The working days are Monday to Sunday between the hours of 08:00 and 20:00. The successful candidate will be expected to participate in shifts covering these days and hours.
Salary:£23,615 a year plus HCAS pro rata.
