Job Overview:

The Development Manager is seeking an experienced Operations and Finance Lead to join their team. This role will be responsible for managing financial records, working with external accountants to prepare accounts payable and receivable, recording, checking and reporting financial data, and delivering high-quality customer service.

Job Description:

We are looking for an experienced Operations and Finance Lead to join our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for managing financial records, preparing accounts payable and receivable, reconciling finance data and payments, raising invoices, uploading invoices, reconciling payments, performing credit control, supporting external accountants, producing accurate quarterly and end of year accounts, liaising with external payroll company, supporting business operations manager, utilising funding calculator, preparing financial reports and forecasts, managing staff expenses, ensuring general office supplies, working with business operations manager to ensure value for money, completing financial tasks in compliance with funding body regulations, following code of conduct, providing excellent customer service, and complying with all TDM policies, procedures and legal responsibilities.

Responsibilities:
  • Managing financial records, working with external accountants to prepare accounts payable and receivable, recording, checking and reporting financial data, and delivering high-quality customer service.
  • Analysing and reconciling Apprenticeship and Skills programme finance data and payments.
  • Raising invoices in the TDM finance system (Xero) to be sent to employers.
  • Uploading invoices for TDM to pay onto Xero, ensuring documentation is available to evidence VAT claims.
  • Reconciling payments made in Xero.
  • Performing credit control to ensure timely payments.
  • Supporting external accountants and managers with finance queries.
  • Working with external accountants to produce accurate quarterly and end of year accounts.
  • Liaising with external payroll company and Business Operations Manager to prepare payroll payments each month.
  • Supporting Business Operations Manager and wider management team with budget reporting, cashflow analysis and forecasting.
  • Utilising the funding calculator to prepare financial reports and forecasts for governors, managers and directors on a monthly basis and as required.
  • Producing the monthly financial report to include three monthly forecasts and an overview summary.
  • Managing staff expenses in line with the Expenses policy.
  • Ensuring general office supplies are always at an adequate level.
  • Working with Business Operations Manager to ensure TDM is getting value for money on contracts/purchases.
  • Completing all financial tasks in compliance with the rules and regulations of funding bodies, always being ready for any audits.
  • Following the code of conduct and providing excellent customer service internally and externally, using varying methods of communication, including phone calls.
  • Compliance with all TDM policies, procedures and legal responsibilities, including ISO9001, Confidentiality, Data Protection and Cyber Essentials.
Requirements:
  • AAT qualified, or part qualified CCAB accountant;
  • Relevant experience of working in a generalist finance role;
  • Experience working with a finance system;
  • Advanced Excel skills;
  • A background in the apprenticeship, adult learning, or job sector;
