Job Summary

We are looking for a motivated and detail-oriented Financial Accountant to manage and deliver month-end close, prepare reporting packs, and perform balance sheet reconciliations. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in accounting and finance, with experience in management accounting and financial reporting.

Key Responsibilities
  • Manage and deliver month-end close, including preparation of reporting packs and balance sheet reconciliations
  • Prepare and review financial reports, including management accounts and balance sheets
  • Perform intercompany reconciliations and support annual and interim audit
  • Implement and maintain financial processes and controls, including weekly and monthly processes
  • Support internal audit and ensure compliance with financial regulations
  • Post payroll information to the finance system and reconcile
  • Prepare and submit VAT returns and manage European taxes
  • Process journals and manage freight and express job exceptions
  • Manage vendor and customer onboarding and credit approvals
  • Review and close pre-month end freight/express job review and accruals release policy
  • Monitor and correct general ledger coding and SUN system accrual and prepayment allocations
  • Update accounts structures and mapping as agreed with HoF
  • Investigate and resolve operating system to accounting system interface failures
  • Maintain leases and fixed asset schedules
  • Support the preparation of annual budgets and quarterly forecasts
  • Provide ad-hoc reporting and cover HoF and other management accountant activities as required
Requirements
  • May be studying towards an Accountancy qualification
  • Demonstrable previous experience in a management accounting role
  • May have previous experience as a Financial Accountant
  • Experience in Freight Forwarding or similar business is a plus but not essential
  • Sound knowledge of accountancy techniques and practices
  • Self-motivated, disciplined, with a flexible approach to working practices
  • Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate effectively with people at all levels of the organisation
  • Proven time management skills, high degree of initiative and self-sufficiency with the ability to prioritise and meet deadlines in a fast-paced working environment
