Apprentice in Building Services Engineering

HFL Building Solutions Group stands as a leader in the building services sector, renowned for delivering dependable and efficient solutions tailored to the needs of diverse enterprises, including retail, leisure, education, and commercial sectors.
The Apprentice in Building Services Engineering position is structured to enhance your expertise and understanding of the building services domain while adhering to the commitments of both clients and the organization.
This apprenticeship spans four years, incorporating attendance at a selected educational institution on a day-release basis, complemented by block weeks dedicated to practical training and online evaluations or on-site mentorship.
The ultimate goal of this apprenticeship is to achieve full qualification in the servicing and maintenance of HVAC systems, with an option for a commercial gas specialization.
During your time away from academic commitments, you will collaborate closely with Multi Skilled Engineers, gaining invaluable on-site experience within commercial environments.
Core Responsibilities:
- Fostering and nurturing a collaborative relationship with Engineers, Administrative staff, and Clients.
- Adhering to all relevant statutory, organizational, and site-specific Health, Safety, and Environmental regulations.
- Striving to meet or surpass all established service levels and objectives set forth by your Line Manager.
- Ensuring a high level of customer satisfaction is consistently achieved.
- Identifying and exploring opportunities for innovative cost savings in collaboration with Clients.
- Receiving on-site training from Multi Skilled Engineers across various trades, including gas, oil, air conditioning, mechanical, and electrical disciplines, all pertinent to the building services industry.
- Compiling a comprehensive portfolio of work in accordance with the educational institution's requirements.
- Maintaining punctuality and good time management.
- Facilitating effective communication among all team members.
- Grasping the fundamental principles of HVAC systems and general maintenance tasks.
- Assisting in the preparation of quotations and estimates for new projects under the guidance of a qualified Engineer.
- Ensuring that all Planned Preventative Maintenance (PPM) tasks are executed in alignment with the PPM schedule and management systems.
- Keeping all documentation current and properly organized within the site logbook.
- Updating the Computer-Aided Facilities Management (CAFM) system as required.
- Completing online training modules and toolbox talks in accordance with company policies and best practices.
