School Support Assistant Opportunity

We are seeking an experienced and caring teaching assistant to work with a child in Key Stage 1 at a primary school in Northfield. This part-time position involves providing one-to-one support to a student with specific learning needs.

About the Position:

In this role, you will work closely with the class teacher and SENCo to develop strategies for supporting the student's individual needs and provide personalized assistance in academic and social settings.

Key Responsibilities:
  1. Work collaboratively with the class teacher and SENCo to understand the student's needs and implement targeted support strategies.
  2. Provide tailored support to the child in reading, writing, and numeracy activities, as well as other areas of need.
  3. Use your knowledge of different learning styles to adapt teaching methods and resources to meet the child's unique requirements.
  4. Promote the student's independence and encourage their active participation in class activities.
  5. Regularly monitor progress, record observations, and provide constructive feedback to the class teacher and SENCo.
  6. Contribute to the development and review of the child's IEP and EHCP, working collaboratively with other professionals.
Essential Requirements:
  • Level 2/3 childcare qualification or equivalent experience.
  • Relevant experience in supporting children with special needs, preferably in a primary school setting.
  • A kind and empathetic approach, with a genuine desire to make a positive impact on young learners.
  • Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build strong relationships with students, parents, and colleagues.
  • Familiarity with various special educational needs and effective support strategies.
  • An adaptable and flexible approach, able to respond to the unique needs of the child.
  • A commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children.
  • This role is subject to Part 7 of the Immigration Act (2016), requiring fluency in English language.

Salary range: £22,000 - £25,000 per annum, dependent on experience.
