What Does the Role Entail?

As a leading generator specialist, our goal is to identify new opportunities where dependable power is essential and to sustainably expand in existing markets.

You will assist the Generator Engineer Supervisor and the Rental team in the preparation, testing, and repair of large generator units. While this is primarily a depot-based position, occasional travel to various sites may be required.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Oversee the service, maintenance, and overall condition of large containerized generators (500 KVA and above) within the rental fleet, ensuring adherence to manufacturer-recommended service schedules.
  • Provide general support in the yard, including loading and unloading equipment.
  • Operate forklifts in the yard as necessary.
  • Re-inventory all generators.
  • Conduct servicing and repairs on Power Electrics and client equipment off-site as needed.
  • Participate in the engineer's call-out rota, currently one week in twelve, subject to satisfactory training.
  • Adhere to the Company Health & Safety Policy, maintaining cleanliness and organization in work areas.
  • Follow all aspects of the company’s ISO 9001:2008, ISO 14001:2004, and OHSAS 18001:2007 procedures, actively contributing to the company's continuous improvement initiatives.

Skills and Qualifications:

  • Relevant qualifications in Mechanical/Electrical Engineering/Diesel Fitting/Plant, such as City & Guilds, BTEC, or equivalent experience with generators or large diesel engines.
  • A valid Full Driving Licence is essential (towing categories preferred).
  • A Forklift Truck Licence is advantageous but not mandatory, as training can be provided.
  • Previous experience in a workshop environment is beneficial.
  • CSCS Card holder preferred but not essential, as training can be arranged.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team.
  • Flexibility in work approach to meet business needs.
