Job Summary
This is a full-time locum post for 1 year to strengthen the existing team of Respiratory Medicine Consultants at Wirral University Teaching Hospital NHS Trust. The successful candidate will work as part of a dynamic and busy chest team, providing respiratory inpatient care, bronchoscopic and pleural lists, and respiratory outpatient care.
Main Duties
The post holder will be responsible for the prevention, diagnosis, and treatment of patients with respiratory illnesses, as well as general medical conditions. They will also be involved in teaching and training junior doctors, conducting audits, and participating in governance activities.
About the Role
The successful candidate will have extensive experience in managing respiratory patients and will be able to lead, teach, and relate to patients, relatives, and other hospital staff. They will work as part of a team to provide high-quality care and will be expected to participate in on-call duties, including daytime ward rounds and phone calls.
Person Specification
- Entry on the GMC Specialist Register via CCT, CESR, or European Community Rights
- MRCP or equivalent
- CCST in General Medicine and Respiratory or inclusion on the Specialist Register
Desirable Qualifications and Experience
- An appropriate higher degree in respiratory medicine (MD, PhD, or equivalent)
- Experience in diagnostic bronchoscopy
- Experience in cardiopulmonary exercise test reporting
