Assistant Footwear Designer

A fantastic opportunity has arisen for an Assistant Footwear Designer to work with a reputable global brand, The Retail Partnership Ltd.

This role is based in Central London and is a great opportunity for someone who has been working within footwear for 2 years and looking to progress their career.

Main Responsibilities:
  1. Assist in the design and development of trend and market-driven footwear collections each season.
  2. Research trends, colours, materials, trims with a strong sense of the footwear market.
  3. Produce initial sketches, both hand-drawn and digital, of footwear concepts. Contribute with innovative and original designs to the collection.
  4. Provide detailed technical drawings and specifications for prototype development.
  5. Weekly updates with the development team and/or factories on current projects.
  6. Review prototypes, amendments, fittings.
  7. Research into innovative and sustainable materials, footwear constructions, production methods.
  8. Competitor shopping trips, analysing the footwear and fashion market to drive design inspiration for upcoming collections.
  9. Work closely with senior designers, development team and other product categories to align brand design strategy.
  10. Assist senior designers with range plans, collection overviews and colour CADs
  11. Prepare collection presentations for design reviews, and keep them up-to-date with design changes throughout the season.
  12. Assist in footwear catalogue photoshoots and collection launches.
Person Specifications:
  1. Bachelor's Degree in Fashion/Footwear Design or equivalent work experience.
  2. Minimum 2 years of professional design experience.
  3. High proficiency in Adobe Illustrator & Photoshop and Microsoft Office.
  4. Have a flair for design with great creativity and imagination.
  5. Must be able to build all tech packs and pass specs in a detailed, organised and clear manner for factory proto-sample-making.
  6. Understanding of material viability and footwear construction.
  7. Strong time management and communication skills.
