About the Role

A leading psychiatric service in South Manchester is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Psychiatric Speciality Doctor to join their team. The successful candidate will play a key role in the development of a service specialising in the support of females with acute mental health care needs.

What We're Looking For

We're looking for a doctor with relevant experience within psychiatric hospitals, who is fully registered with the GMC and has approval under Section 12 of the Mental Health Act. The ideal candidate will have excellent knowledge of the Mental Health Act and Code of Practice, as well as the Mental Capacity Act 2005 and Code of Capacity. They will be able to interview, assess and treat patients, and write clear and comprehensive medical notes.

Key Responsibilities

The successful candidate will be responsible for clerking in new patients and reviewing their mental/physical state throughout the working week. They will also attend and contribute to tribunals, and work with the wider MDT to ensure treatment plans are formulated, executed and frequently reviewed. General working hours are Monday to Friday 9:00 - 17:00, with potential flexibility offered. Initially, there will be on call responsibilities as part of the existing package, but with negotiation where necessary.

The Essentials

Full GMC registration
Relevant experience within psychiatric hospitals
Approval under Section 12 of the Mental Health Act (preferred)
Excellent knowledge of the Mental Health Act and Code of Practice, as well as the Mental Capacity Act 2005 and Code of Capacity
Ability to interview, assess and treat patients, and write clear and comprehensive medical notes
