About the Role

This exciting opportunity is available for a Specialist Neurosurgery Trainee in Advanced Skull Base Surgery. As part of our multidisciplinary team, you will have the chance to work closely with experienced neurosurgeons and develop your expertise in lateral skull base surgery.


Job Description

This full-time appointment is suitable for post-CCT neurosurgery trainees who wish to pursue a focused one-year training in lateral skull base surgery. The role involves participating in MDT skull base clinics, seeing new and follow-up patients, and presenting cases during multidisciplinary team meetings.


Responsibilities

The successful candidate will be responsible for:

  • Participating in multidisciplinary team meetings to discuss patient cases
  • Seeing new and follow-up patients in MDT skull base clinics
  • Presenting cases during multidisciplinary team meetings

Requirements

To be eligible for this position, candidates must meet the following requirements:

  • Registered Medical Practitioner
  • Completed general medical training
  • On GMC register
  • MBBS or equivalent medical qualification
  • MRCS(UK) full diploma or equivalent at time of appointment

Essential Skills and Qualifications

Candidates should possess the following essential skills and qualifications:

  • Evidence of experience in General Neurosurgery (at least 6 years at registrar/resident level)
  • Evidence of some competences in the specialty as defined by the relevant curricula
  • Awareness of the basics of managing neurosurgical pathways
  • Evidence of skills in the management of acute medical emergencies (e.g. ALERT, IMPACT certification)
  • Evidence of competence in management of medical emergencies and in-patients through continuous work-based assessments, portfolio evidence, including logbook documentation if applicable
