Quant Systems: Senior Linux Engineer (London)

The D. E. Shaw group seeks a senior systems engineer with extensive Linux experience to join its Quant Systems team. This is a hands-on technical role within an engineering team responsible for high-performance trading and research infrastructure.

What you'll do day-to-day

You'll be part of a global team that designs and maintains the firm's largest compute infrastructure, which includes operating system platforms, software development tooling, high-performance computing, networking, and storage for research and trading.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design and implement workload scheduling systems for high-performance computing environments
  • Manage and maintain large-scale Linux-based infrastructure, including operating system platforms and software development tooling
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to develop and implement high-performance computing solutions
  • Develop and maintain software tools and scripts to automate infrastructure management and monitoring
  • Provide technical leadership and guidance to junior engineers and developers

Requirements

  • 5+ years of experience in Linux systems engineering and high-performance computing
  • Strong understanding of Linux operating systems, including kernel development and configuration management
  • Experience with software development tools, such as Git and Jenkins
  • Strong problem-solving skills and ability to work in a fast-paced environment
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills
