Key Responsibilities
  1. Maintain Expertise and Increase Knowledge: Stay up-to-date with the latest developments in corporate and commercial law, including construction contracts and intellectual property.
  2. Contractual Work: Draft, review, advise on, and negotiate contractual engagements with customers and suppliers, managing a variety of contracts, including standard form construction contracts, bespoke customer contracts, and frameworks.
  3. Collaboration and Support: Work closely with business units and functions to provide trusted advice and support to colleagues, ensuring the company's intellectual property assets are adequately protected.
  4. Team Strategy and Delivery: Support the delivery of the team strategy and suggest better ways of working as a team and with colleagues.
  5. Dispute Resolution: Assist the business in resolving disputes with customers and suppliers.
  6. Global Support: Support our European colleagues and deliver consistent advice and support across the Portakabin group of companies.
  7. Compliance and Training: Support the delivery and implementation of an Ethical Compliance Framework and develop and deliver e-learning, resources, and in-person training on commercial and legal principles, compliance, and areas of risk to the business.
Requirements
  • Qualified Solicitor: Qualified as a solicitor (NQ) with strong academics and corporate and commercial experience in private practice or in-house.
  • Contract Negotiation and Drafting: Experience in reviewing, drafting, and negotiating contracts to manage legal and commercial risk.
  • Compliance and Construction Law: Experience in compliance matters and construction contracts and construction law (preferred).
  • Commercial Awareness: Commercial awareness and a pragmatic approach.
  • Professional Attitude: Professional, motivated, and conscientious attitude.
  • Multitasking and Prioritization: Ability to multitask and prioritize own workload.
  • Drafting and Negotiation Skills: Drafting and negotiating skills and excellent attention to detail.
