Grant Specialist Job Description

The Defender Association of Philadelphia is seeking a highly skilled Grant Specialist to support our mission and oversee all aspects of grant management. This is a hybrid position that requires a strong understanding of grant writing, research, submission, and management.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Develop and implement a comprehensive grant management strategy to secure funding for our programs and services.
  • Research and identify new funding opportunities in the areas of criminal justice reform, youth justice, community education, and child advocacy.
  • Cultivate and maintain relationships with existing and potential funders to ensure a strong network of support.
  • Collaborate with our executive and management team to prioritize funding needs and develop grant proposals that meet the needs of our organization.
  • Write clear, concise, and compelling grant proposals that showcase our organization's impact and effectiveness.
Requirements:
  • A minimum of three years of experience in grant writing, research, submission, and management.
  • Experience with or strong knowledge of the non-profit fundraising landscape.
  • Familiarity with eGrants or JustGrants is a plus.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, problem-solving capabilities, and collaboration.
  • Exemplary writing skills; ability to write clear, articulate, and persuasive proposals.
  • Occasional travel to community events and funders.
  • Requires full Covid vaccination or approved exemption request.
