Job Summary

We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Apprentice Field Service Engineer to join our team at Leidos. As an Apprentice Field Service Engineer, you will be responsible for learning and performing a wide range of technical duties to ensure our aviation product range is compliant with industry best practices.

You will work under direct supervision, assisting and becoming proficient in the service and support of critical infrastructure Security & Detection Systems. The first 6 months of the training program will involve working within the Service team and other relevant departments at Manchester Airport and Commissioning/Install teams.

Following this, the role will be based mainly at Manchester Airport and also field-based shadowing the Field Service Engineers across the North region of the UK. To complete a 4-year apprenticeship program and attain a 'competency qualification' within the Electrical/Electronic 'Mechatronics' apprenticeship standard while attending college on a day release basis and/or as required.

Key Responsibilities
  • Works within UK Service.
  • Competently use Test Equipment (DVM, Radiation meters and PAC tester).
  • Attend internal product training.
  • Training to perform assembly tasks.
  • Assist in the repair and maintenance of Security & Detection Systems within Field Service.
  • Training to wire electrical control cabinets.
  • Training to understand GA drawings and Electrical documentation. Attendance at college on a day release basis leading to attainment of Engineering Technician Level 3 qualification.
  • Work across all departments to achieve a complete understanding of the Service, Manufacturing/Engineering processes.
