Senior Urban Planner

Carrington West is seeking a highly skilled Senior Urban Planner to join our team in Cardiff. As a Senior Urban Planner, you will be responsible for managing planning applications and appeals for large-scale retail developments, working with major retail brands, shopping centres, and mixed-use schemes.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage and lead planning applications and development appraisals for retail projects.
  • Provide strategic planning advice to clients, including major retailers, developers, and investors.
  • Liaise with local authorities, stakeholders, and other consultants to secure planning permissions.
  • Prepare and submit detailed reports, statements, and environmental assessments.
  • Monitor retail market trends and changes in planning policy to guide client strategies.
  • Represent clients in negotiations and at planning committees.
  • Collaborate with internal teams including architecture, development, and project management to deliver seamless consultancy services.

Requirements:

  • Degree in Town Planning or related discipline, ideally MRTPI accredited.
  • 3+ years' experience in planning, with a strong background in retail or commercial developments.
  • Thorough understanding of retail planning policies and UK planning regulations.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication, project management, and negotiation skills.
