Senior Estimator RoleWe are seeking a highly skilled Senior Estimator to join our team at PSR Solutions. As a Senior Estimator, you will play a key role in preparing and submitting tenders, working closely with the bid team to ensure competitive bids and securing profitable future workload for the business.
Key Responsibilities- Appraisal of tender documents
- Preparation of material and sub-contract enquiries, including the selection of prospective subcontractors
- Attending strategy/opportunity meetings with project teams
- Visiting sites to identify site-specific risks
- Contributing to the design development process and attending design team meetings as required
- Preparing tender Bills of Quantities
- Preparing analytic cost estimates, including preliminaries
- Preparing budgets and cost plans
- Adjudicating and comparing sub-contractor quotations
- Initiating technical queries and ensuring design is sufficiently developed to ensure accurate costings
- Risk management throughout the tender period and preparation of the tender Risk Register
- Value engineering throughout the design phase of design and build projects
- Presentation of the tender to senior management at tender settlement meetings, highlighting any major commercial issues of elevated risk
- Completion of tender documentation and submission of the tender
- Ensuring a smooth handover of the project to the operational team
- Appropriate construction-related degree or similar
- A minimum of 10 years' experience in a similar role
- Competent use of Microsoft packages, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook
- Extensive experience of analytical estimating across a broad spectrum, up to a value of £25m
- All forms of contract, including traditional, partnering, design & build, 2-stage tenders, and frameworks
- Experience of using estimating software
- Well-developed technical construction knowledge
- Knowledge of industry standards
- Ability to develop personal skills and capability through ongoing training, experience, and mentoring
- Awareness of BIM
- Cost planning
- Ability to build up an estimate from first principles, understanding outputs, methodology, and sequence
- Sound technical and commercial abilities, including strong numerical skills
- Risk awareness
