Child and Family Practitioner
This is an exciting opportunity for a clinician to further their skills in a role that makes a positive impact in young people's lives within an innovative CAMHS service. As a Child and Family Practitioner, you will work as a 'Recruit to Train' therapist and Senior Mental Health Practitioner within a CAMHS team alongside other clinicians delivering evidence-based interventions.
The post provides the opportunity to complete training in Systemic Family Practice (SFP) delivering evidence-based systemic interventions for children and young people experiencing depression and self-harm or conduct disorder. The course is delivered by leading practitioners in the field at King's College London in collaboration with Anna Freud Centre. You will split your time between attending university teaching days and carrying out clinical work within your team.
As a Senior Mental Health Practitioner, you will work within Hampshire CAMHS as part of a multi-disciplinary team to assess, plan, deliver and evaluate, under supervision, high-quality evidence-based systemic interventions for referred young people in collaboration with professional colleagues and clinical services, in order to enable continuity of care.
The training and service experience will equip you with the necessary knowledge, attitude and capabilities to operate effectively in an inclusive, value-driven service. You will be part of an organisation dedicated to delivering exceptional healthcare; where your skills and ambitions can make a real difference to the communities we serve, now and in the future.
We are happy to talk Flexible Working - all requests for flexible working options can be discussed as part of the interview process. However, please bear in mind that this 12 month training programme has teaching requirements (which are not flexible) and a requirement to complete a minimum number of clinical hours within the 12 month fixed-term period.
This is a training position and so all candidates will need to apply for both the trainee role with our organisation and the KCL Postgraduate Diploma Children & Young People's Mental Health Therapies. You will have a CAMHS-recognised core qualification (nursing, social work, occupational therapy etc.) and will be registered with either the NMC, the HCPC or Social Work England. Please note that although counselling and teaching are recognised as valid professional qualifications on the KCL documentation, CAMHS does not recognise these as core qualifications, and therefore employment within Hampshire CAMHS would not be possible with these qualifications.
As this is a training position, please be aware that this is a dual application process where you must be employed in a Recruit to Train funded job to also receive a place on the course, and vice-versa. You will be an employee of the service but also enrolled on a Postgraduate Diploma course. As this is a Postgraduate level diploma, you will also be required to be able to study and write academic material at this level. Applicants must be prepared to study and write assignments outside of protected study time (such as on weekends and after work).
