Job Role Overview

As a Senior Technician Engineer, you will play a key role in supporting the delivery of engineering tasks to enhance the Met Office's capability and reputation.

This role is an exciting opportunity to work on projects that really matter and make a difference, while developing your skills and knowledge in a dynamic and fast-paced environment.

You will have the opportunity to work alongside a diverse and highly skilled team of experts in the field of systems engineering, and contribute to the development of innovative solutions to real-world problems.

Key responsibilities will include:

  • Preparing technical specifications to plan the work of upgrading infrastructure at an Automatic Weather Station (AWS).
  • Using experience of scientific instrument interfacing and wiring schedules to produce technical drawings and circuit schematics to describe the building and installation of automatic weather station components.

Essential Criteria

To be successful in this role, you will need to have:

  • A significant Engineering focus in your undergraduate degree, including a placement year.
  • Good oral and written communication skills, including the ability to convey technical information.
  • A flexible approach to meeting work requirements within a set deadline.
  • An interest in current and emerging engineering practice.
  • Some experience of scientific instrument interfacing and wiring schedules.
